Lío Spinnewijn (2000) defines themself and their artistic practice as a Gardener. The ideology of a Gardener revolves around the garden as a confined space, to explore alternative hopeful futures.

Lío their art practice tackles the created schism between culture and nature. The Gardener, a persona invented by the artist, creates a mixture of two components that are, in the western society, immiscible by using the example of soap. In this visual, historical and natural founded practice, elements of performance art, that resemble elements of nature, are being used for study. The goal of the artworks is to see how art and nature can be perceived the same.
